What You Need to Know About Your Nissan Key Fob
It's possible that you've lost your Nissan key fob or it stopped working. Before you panic or call the dealer, look back to where you last had it.
Fortunately, it's easy to change the battery in the key fob of your Nissan. It may be difficult initially but you'll get ability to do it quickly.
Smart Keys
The key fob that was included with your Nissan is an important element of the car's modern keyless entry system. It communicates with the vehicle's electronics to unlock doors as well as start the engine. It also comes with an easy-to-use design, making it easy to carry in your pocket. Key fobs also offer convenience features such as an alarm that can be locked out that ensures you don't leave the vehicle with the keys inside.
Unlike previous models of key fobs, which required you to place the key in an ignition slot to access your vehicle's onboard systems, smart keys operate wirelessly. When you walk by the vehicle the Nissan senses the Intelligent Key fob's proximity to it and activates its internal functions. This could mean opening and locking the doors, lowering or raising the tailgate, or even launching the engine.
Some smart key models come with an invisible valet key made of metal. This key can be retrieved by a release that is located on the back of Smart Key fobs to lock the trunk or glovebox prior to giving it to the valet. The Smart Key fob has a charging pocket that can be used to charge the battery when it is not in use.
If your Nissan's Intelligent Key fob isn't working as it should, then you'll have to replace the batteries. The owner's manual will offer guidelines on how to replace the batteries in all fobs.

The ignition in the car is activated when a driver presses the button on the key fob or smartphone application. The remote start system can also engage climate control, allowing the driver to choose their preferred temperature. Certain systems come with two-way communication that allow the driver to be aware of what is happening inside their vehicle.
A low battery is the most common reason for your remote to stop not working. The key fob is powered by a small battery that can be replaced. It lasts for about two years. Lockout Protection
Lockout protection prevents nuisance lockouts caused due to impedance relay failure. A special module within the power control unit checks for impedance relay activity and then disables the output. This feature is only available for vehicles with the Smart Key system or through the personalization menu for the vehicle.
Many serious accidents have occurred because a machine started up when it was supposed to shut off to prevent maintenance or repairs. These incidents are usually the result of stored energy that was not properly released. Lock-out-tag-out (LOTO) is a method to ensure that machines are off until a designated individual releases them, helps to prevent these types of accidents.
The LOTO system consists of a variety of locks tags, locks and other devices that are used to isolate, secure or shut off the device from electrical power. All "affected" and "authorized" personnel are required to be trained in the use of these lockout/tag-out devices. These devices include, but are not restricted to chains, locks, and padlocks. Each device is unique and labeled, including the date and the time it was put in use, the name and title of the person authorized, and the purpose of the lockout or tagout (repairs maintenance, repairs and maintenance, etc.). It should be stated clearly that these devices are not able to be removed until a thorough LOTO procedure has been followed.
