World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
The item upgrade allows players to boost the gear rating of an item up to 700 points and add a final bonus. Items can be upgraded by having them in inventory, and then taking them to the kiln.
Certain items are worth upgrading due to their unique stats. (For example an excellently rolled breakpoint armor used in melee PvP). Other items, like weapons aren't changed much after an upgrade, and aren't worth the effort.
Weapons
Upgrades to weapons can improve their numerical stats, such as attack damage, crit probability and PvE/PvP damage. upgrade item have a flat bonus which increases their damage per second. Additionally there are many weapons with an added bonus that is activated when three or more of the same weapon are present on a unit. In some cases this bonus could amount to more than the amount of damage that a weapon is able to upgrade on its own.
The cost of upgrading a weapon is based on the nature of the weapon as well as its current level. For instance, a +2 weapon requires two standard Smithing Stones while a+3 requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade a gun will increase until it needs more Smithing Stones. At that point it will reset to one.
Upgrading weapons will also reroll their base stats. While this is usually beneficial, it can have some negative consequences as well. For items that only see use in a certain build (Whistant's shield for FB sorcs for instance) upgrading them could render them unusable unless you get a fortunate roll.
Armor items can also be upgraded to boost their performance. In the case of chests or helms this will increase the defense of its base, while gloves and belts enhance their required strength and dexterity. Armor has a rerolling feature for its Enhanced Defense%. This means that it is able to roll down to a lower value.
The upgrade template of a weapon will display the new stats it will gain after upgrading, as well as the relative value of those stats. This means that an upgrade from a sword with 8 damage to an 11 attack-damage sword will result in a weapon receiving an attack damage of 3. However the 3% difference doesn't mean that it will hit for 3 fewer times because it's an absolute statistic.
Rerolling a weapon is possible by pressing the green button on the item menu using the arrows that circle. This will reroll the item and alter its stats but it won't reset the weapon's level nor bind to account status.
Armor
A few upgrades to your armor can make the world of difference to your survivability. Certain sets offer massive boosts to poison or curse, fire, and magic resistance, which can make the journey through difficult terrain a breeze. In general, the greater defense you can offer your character, the greater health you can get from each point. So, it's best to upgrade your armor.
You can upgrade your armor by visiting any of the Great Fairy Fountains. There are four in total each of which requires you to complete a specific side quest that involves the Stable Trotters musical troupe. Once you've completed the primary side quest and completed the fountain in question and then you can contact any Great Fairy to open up the menu for upgrading your armor.
Each piece of armor can be upgraded to three levels and the amount of material and Rupees required for each will vary. In general, you'll be looking at anywhere between three Red Chuchu jellies and 10 Rupees for the initial upgrade, then anywhere between five Rubies and 10 Fire-Breath Horns for each subsequent one. The Champion Leathers, for instance can be upgraded to a +5 defense rating, which will allow you to remain competitive in frigid environments with a large group of adversaries. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other is able to be upgraded to +20 defense to ensure you're able to withstand a rout with your comrades.
Be aware that armor can't be upgraded the same way as weapons, so you'll have to focus on upgrading it for physical strength if you're a Warrior or Spell Power if you're a Mage. It is recommended to save your armor upgrades to upgrade the armor you'll still be wearing by the end of the story, for example the Ring of Lightning, Spectral Shield or the mask you wear in the final boss fight The Monter Parts Merchant Mask.
You can also gain perks for your armor by presenting the jeweler in Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. It is generally recommended to save these upgrades to the weapon that you'll use to beat the game. For instance the Longsword or Battleaxe. It's nevertheless beneficial to have a few upgrades to the helmets and chest armor so that you can sneak around some monsters.
Potions
Potions are liquids that when consumed by a participant, produce an immediate effect. There are five kinds of potions that have different effects and durations. Certain potions can be upgraded, enhancing their effectiveness. Additionally, the effects of some potions can be enhanced by adding redstone or glowstone dust them.
Upgrades to potion cost a certain amount of XP. This can be earned by crafting them on a crafting table or in the chest of the Alchemist. The upgrade price varies depending on the type of potion and the item's rarity and Mark Level.
To upgrade a potion you need to right-click it in your inventory. Select "Upgrade" from the menu. This will open an GUI that lets you choose the potion that you want to upgrade and the amount of experience they'll offer when upgraded. You can upgrade potions in batches up to five at a time and their XP will be added to the total XP you currently have.
Once a potion has been upgraded, it will not degrade until you use it again, or break the bottle it is stored in. You can also rename the potion by clicking it in your inventory.
There were a few changes to the mechanics of potions in version 1.7.2. For example splash potions now have the duration of 0:08 (this is not the same as the 22.5 seconds that are displayed on the hover display of the item). The table of potion can now be constructed using four Wood Planks and two Glass. This allows it to be used by players playing Survival and Bedrock. Bedrock Edition potions are not compatible with cauldrons, unlike Java Edition. Similarly, using a potion in a cauldron that is full drains the contents and replenishes the bottle.
There are also lingering potions that are brewed using dragon breath and splash potions. In the same way, a lingering potion effect can be extended by adding redstone to it. The table of potions is laid out more in line with the Java Edition, and new potions were added such as the potion of leaping, the decomposition potion, and turtle master potions.
Trinkets
A trinket is an ornament that is small and inexpensive or piece jewelry. It could also refer to an ornament or object that serves a function but is not important as a trinket. In some cultures, a trinket is used to express affection or friendship between family members.
Trinkets can be upgraded by players as well as weapons, armor, and potions. Upgrades can be made by paying the appropriate currency to an upgrade vendor. Unlike other item upgrades trinkets, trinkets can be traded out at any time without losing their stats.
Upgrade vendors can be found at the capitals of each zone, and in some instances in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are purchased using tokens, gold or fragments of rare trinkets.
Upgrades to trinkets are an economical alternative to buying an entirely new one. It is possible to upgrade the player for less than 12 tokens. The new trinket will come with the same base ilvl of the old one, and will come with an additional upgrade bonus of 1.
Once the old Trinkets have become no longer usable they can be upgraded. This allows a player to increase both their power and value over time. They can be traded among players and are a viable alternative to gold.
Players must upgrade their most valuable items first. This means that the best-in slot items for each class are upgraded first, followed by their secondary gear, and then other pieces of equipment that won't be replacing in the near future (such as rings or cloaks). When choosing the items to upgrade, players should consider the class's preferred stats. If Haste and Crit are two of the most important stats for tank players and they want to upgrade their helm, chest and shoulders.
Trinkets are able to be upgraded to a higher ilvl once they're no longer needed and the new trinket will have an additional 1% upgrade bonus. A re-upgrade, however, will cause the trinket to be destroyed unless it is salvaged with the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or a higher tier salvage tool. Upgrades to trinkets can be more expensive than other upgrades, but still less expensive than buying a new one.
