Joseph Williams is a natural frontman, and provides the band with a much-needed boost.
The band releases Mindfields in 1999, and then embarks on a major tour across the globe. After a few months in Europe they come to Japan where the shows are sold out. After a short hiatus, Toto resumes their recording and release their first live album titled Absolutely Live in 1993. This includes a cover version of Weezer's hit song Hash Pipe as a response to the band covering Africa during their recent tour. Toto's touring group includes drummer Lenny Castro and bassist Shannon Forrest along with keyboardist Shem Von Schroeck.

After that, the group disbanded once again. Toto reunited for the benefit concert in 2010 to raise funds for the ALS Foundation. This was the first time that all the original Toto members were performing together for over 31 years. In addition to the original members, keyboardist Greg Tambu filled in for Paich and bassist David Hungate filled in for Shem Von Schroeck.
