Item Upgrades A Simple Definition
Path of Exile Item Upgrades
Upgrades to items are a frequent and essential way to boost the performance of numerous items in Path of Exile. They can cause additional damage, AD or even affixes.
Rare-grade equipment can be superior to modernized Common or Magic equipment due to their high demands.
Armor
Armor upgrades can be applied to both armor and weapon items. They improve the stats of the item they're attached to. Armor upgrades can be found in the world of the game and are available from Blacksmiths on bonfires. They can also be salvaged using a professional or higher salvage kit to recover upgrades from the items.
The amount of damage that an armored item or weapon will absorb is contingent on the degree of upgrades. The upgrade of an armor piece to its highest upgrade level will increase the damage it absorbs. However, it's important be aware that this upgrade will raise its weight, requiring it to weigh more than it was before.
There are a few different kinds of armor upgrades that are available in the game, and each one has distinct effects. Some upgrades give armor an additional number of health points, while others make it more powerful and lighter. The kind of armor upgrade an item can get is indicated by the name of the upgrade, as illustrated in the table below.
Some of the upgrades also require magic or a combination of technology and magic, which are identified by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table below. Certain upgrades also require fees to use. They are referred to as "Charges" entries in the table. These charges are either updated daily or never expire, depending on the upgrade.
The cheapest method to upgrade armor is to use Iron Ore, which can be found through exploring the surroundings and looting small loot chests. Titanium is more expensive, however it is obtainable from smelters located in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, like the Reforge or the Hot Potato Books can only be used on armor pieces that are of high-level. These upgrades can provide significant boost to stats and are a worthwhile investment, especially for 1-handed weapons.
The player should be aware, however, that upgrading a piece to its maximum upgrade level will increase its defense values. However, it can also decrease its agility and speed. It is not recommended to upgrade armor past +9. The boost in defense generally isn't worth the weight and power costs of the upgrades.
Weapons
Weapon upgrades give players to enhance certain aspects of their weapon. Upgrades can increase the accuracy of a rifle, or the damage that shotgun shells do. Certain firearms also have upgrades that enhance their inherent capabilities. Frictionless materials (improves stability, reduces the risk of the possibility of overheating) and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's velocity for greater damage) are two examples.
The majority of upgrades to weapons require one of three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons and a whetblade for applying. These can be obtained by doing side quests, or taking out a certain number of monsters or bosses or from the Weapon Upgrade NPC located in Central Flarine.
To upgrade the weapon, equipment set piece or Whetblade You must go to the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee of a specific number of Bars. The higher the upgrade level, the more bars required to complete it. If you have multiple upgrade materials the cost of upgrading will be lower.
In Chapter 2: Season 5, the ways to upgrade your equipment and weapon sets has changed a bit. Prior to Chapter 2: Season 5, you could upgrade your weapon and equipment by paying a certain amount of Bars. You could do this until your weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level and at that point, the upgrades would be reset.
It's still possible, but it relies heavily on RNG. Instead, you're much better off visiting stores and buying equipment that has low upgrade levels but good base scores and stat distributions. These items will have a greater likelihood of granting you highest level of advantages and benefits.
The majority of players will prioritize upgrades to the weapons they are most likely to use to allow them to progress quicker. In addition to these players, they should also consider upgrading the weapons they use with their squadmates to increase their power as well. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R to make it more useful when accompanied by biotech specialists such as Grunt and Tali.
Jewels
Jewels can be used to boost the stats of a character or to provide additional effects in armor and weapons. They can be created using the process of jewelry crafting, which is where you combine a gem and a number of specific reagents at a jewelry table. The higher the tier of the gem has, the more powerful its secondary effect. These reagents can be gotten from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses all over the world, or by finding Legendary Gear. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler in exchange for gold and Scattered Prisms.
The quality of a diamond can be improved upon by the Jeweler, with stages that range from Crude to Royal. Based on the tier of the gem it will give different stat boosts when it is inserted into gear, weapons and jewelry.
The Jeweler can create all tiers of gems, with the exception of rare and legendary ones which you must attain an appropriate level to obtain. Jewels can be substituted with another jewel without destroying the original. You can only replace the gem once in an item of equipment.
It is normal to use more jewels for aesthetic reasons. In addition to enhancing performance, the jewels create an area that is stronger than steel, so the repeated friction with pivots doesn't damage them as easily.
A Glyphmaster can provide glyphs to enhance the appearance of your weapons and shields. These glyphs offer a small boost and can be freely traded, but they are not guaranteed to appear as loot. Glyphs can be upgraded, as jewelry, by visiting the Jeweler for gold and a scattered Crystal. Glyphs can also be removed, which returns them to the inventory. Other upgrade components such as aegis or traits cannot be swapped, and can only be retrieved through an upgrade extractor, or salvaging with Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage.
Trinkets
Trinkets are items of equipment that bestow many tiny but valuable advantages to your hero. They can be acquired starting in the areas of starting as loot, personal story rewards, from vendors, or by performing road interactions. They can also be crafted by jewelers and later found or purchased on the Trading Post.
The first trinkets a player unlocks will be the cloak, which gives an unimportant but beneficial boost in speed of movement and evasion. The player will then be able to acquire necklaces, amulets, and rings in a similar fashion to how they acquired weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment comes with one upgrade slot that accepts either a universal or a jewel upgrade. Recommended Web site are smaller and can be used on any device. Jewels are not upgradeable or replaced, and can only be used with certain trinkets.
These trinkets can provide additional bonuses and abilities that are active even when the hero isn't fighting. This lets a hero be more efficient while inactive. It can also compensate for the lack of a excellent slot in the talent tree or team that are normally filled by the hero's optimal stats.
A good rule of thumb for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best-in-Slot) items that you won't be replacing soon, followed by items with desirable stats that are less important than the iLevel of the item being upgraded. This is true especially if you're looking to upgrade several statistics on an item. It is better to upgrade one important stat than two less important ones.
Jungle players will often upgrade their yellow trinkets to a red trinket at the start of the game. Mid and top players however, will choose a green or a pink ward, depending on the matchup. These choices can impact the hero's ability to manage the map.
In addition to the items mentioned above, players will find other trinkets in the form of trophies and rewards throughout the game. These can be earned by completing certain milestones in the story, like finishing a chapter's main quest or killing a particular boss. They can be viewed by selecting the appropriate achievement in the reward tab of the hero menu.
