Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Item upgrading allows players to enhance their weapons and gear with new affixes that boost its stats base or providing additional benefits. To upgrade item s, the player must have the item in their inventory, and also access the kiln.
Usually items with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base, whereas objects with strong bases, such as Eth titans don't change much in their stats after being upgraded.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into weapons, armor, trinkets and tools for gathering, offering an attribute bonus or extra effect while the equipment is used. They can be purchased from vendors, found in loot, thrown away by enemies or as rewards from missions or chests. Some upgrades additionally have special cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be above a certain level before they are upgraded.
To upgrade an armor, weapon or other item in the game, the player will need to select it and then click on the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will show a preview on the right side of the screen, showing what the expected upgrade stats will be, as well as the material or component needed to complete the upgrade.
There are three types that are universal upgrades (which include gems) prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, such as gems, can be placed on any type of equipment. They provide a smaller bonus than upgrade components that are subject to a type restriction. Infusions, which can only be placed in gear that is ascended and legendary equipment are similar to gems, but offer higher bonuses and cannot be placed in any other type of equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They add the suffix at the end of item names. For instance the addition of the suffix Glyph could transform the staff wrapping of Minor Vigor into a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.
In the case of upgrades to gather tools, if a player replaces one glyph with a different one, the old glyph will be returned to the inventory. However replacing any other upgrade component can destroy it, with the exception of inscriptions which can be freely swapped.
Leveling
The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some significant changes from previous versions. Gear is now broken down into tracks, and items can only be upgraded a certain number of times before they are "leveled out." The cost of upgrading increases with each level up, but the required materials do not increase as much. This allows players to focus their efforts on a handful of essential items and maximize their impact, rather than spreading out the upgrade costs across several pieces.
When an item is finished being leveled, it will be able to receive an upgrade set of components, and an increase in the probability that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is known as the Artisan's Energy. It resets to 0 if the upgrade fails, or increases if the upgrade succeeds.
When a piece of equipment is upgraded to its maximum level it is able to gain affixes which will increase its features. The number of affixes available is contingent on the type of item it is. For example, an uncommon or unique weapon that has a standard base will only have two affixes. A legend armor will have eight affixes.
Each upgrade requires a specific number of Flightstones or Crests, based on whether the item is at its current level and in what slot it is placed in. In general, weapons will require more Flightstones to upgrade than other kinds of equipment.
If an item does not get to its maximum level The NPC will offer the player the option to transfer it to a different character and re-infuse it with an upgrade set that is different. This process takes up to two hours and costs the same amount of material, though it will result in a lower chance of success.
To determine the height of a structure, engineers will utilize an instrument to compare the measurement against a known reference point like a benchmark or the elevation of the ground. This process is known as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings with the backsight rod and level, then turning the level and taking the foresight rod reading. This method ensures that buildings are constructed to a high level of accuracy and security.
Rerolling
Rerolling refers to the process of changing an item's upgrade components. It is an essential element of the game, and it can increase an item's damage, strength or other attributes. You can do this via the menu for items or by pressing the Reroll button whenever you upgrade an item. Rerolling is costly and should only be done in the rarest of circumstances.
The game allows players to recycle upgraded items, which are used to earn reroll tokens. These tokens can then be used to upgrade the original item or another item of the same type. Recyclable items come with an indicator of the level which shows how much of the upgrade gauge is filled. The amount of level that has been filled is based on the rarity and the upgrade cost of the item.
Prior to this, some upgrades were given priority affixes which made them easier for players to roll. This meant that you'd get the stats most important to your build more often than other items. This included stats like the armor's total armour, thorns, and control impaired duration reduced stats or the weapons' bonus attack speed and crit strike chance.
This was changed with the recent patch. Priority affixes were removed, and all upgrades have the same chance of rolling each stat. This can be either good or bad, depending on what you're looking to get from your equipment.
Each upgraded item can have a unique fixed-value, fixed-value benefit that increases its strength by a certain percentage. These bonuses are added in addition to the standard affixes. The more you upgrade a product, the better the chance of receiving the bonus of a different kind.
The game also features several sets, that offer a set-based bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are installed on an item. This is an excellent way to add a lot of power to a character without spending a lot of money.
Many players are known to reroll their weapons and equipment, especially in the early stages. Rerolling can help you gain a stronger character quicker, which enables you to advance in the game and achieve higher tiers.
Sets
Sets are collections of elements that can be put together in a variety of ways. They can be of various sizes, contain no elements at all, or contain a single element. They can be utilized to organize data or to sort information. They can also be useful in analysing patterns. Sets can be classified in a variety of ways such as size and shape.
There are a range of set items available to upgrade in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Some are worth upgrading, while some are not. Armor sets that provide high defense values or set bonuses are typically worth upgrading. However, most upgrades to weapons do not improve the quality of the item's stats when in comparison to their counterparts in purple. This makes them less attractive to upgrade if you have lots of weapons or armor pieces already.
Certain set items are upgraded to meet their unique procs which can be beneficial in certain builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded to Exceptional Winged Helms as well as Exceptional Mirrored Boots, respectively. This increased their defense from 217 to 321. (Strength requirements and Level requirements also increased).
Upgrades can also be made to bring certain items up to parity with the levels. For instance the Immortal King set has a wide range of levels, ranging between 29 and 76. The upgrade of lower-level items in the set can boost their defense and make them more competitive in terms of damage.
Clicking the Upgrade button will show the attributes of the item as well as the required items to upgrade it. It will show the item's features, as well as the items needed to upgrade it. For instance the No-mouth face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials and 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Alternately, players can visit the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to check the requirements for upgrading specific items.
In general, weapons and armor have higher value when fully updated. Particularly for weapons with damage glyphs for spells or weapons upgrading them to gold is recommended since it will result in a significant increase in their performance. It will also boost the defense value of armor with an updated look.
